Outstanding Credits Report

This report allows you to easily identify accounts with outstanding credits that may require a refund, as well as identifying accounts that are not yet Resolved, but are ready to be Resolved in the Journal.

1. In the Reports Editor, select:

Category: Accounting
Report: Outstanding Credits

(Figure 1)

Parameters displayed are the default parameters. Click Save.

2. Study the Outstanding Credits Report in Figure 2 (this example did not include Journal Detail). The report shows you the guarantor account (name), the total credit balance, followed by the private balance and insurance balance.

3. Let's look at another example with more detail. In Figure 3, the "Include Positive Accounts" and "Show Journal Detail" parameters are enabled. You are already familiar with the "Show Journal Detail" function. Click Save.

The "Include Positive Accounts" Checkbox

When not checked, the report will show overall credit balances that identify accounts that may be eligible for refund. By default, this checkbox is not checked.

When checked, the report will show every account with an unlinked credit, regardless of balance. This identifies accounts that may be cleaned up in the journal; where outstanding credits may be linked and resolved. This is demonstrated in Figure 4 below.

4. Study Figure 4. Because the "Include Positive Accounts" parameter was enabled, we can see an account (Frances Barbour) where there is a $0 balance, but the account contains an oustanding credit of $75.

5. When we look at Mrs. Barbour's Journal, we can see a $75 charge, and a $75 payment, but they are not linked (Figure 5). If they were linked, they would be resolved upon the next Journal Close and the credit would no longer appear in the Outstanding Credits Report.
